To improve durability of a magnetic layer and to enable good high- density recording by dispersing inner stress produced by sliding with a magnetic head into a nonmagnetic powder so as to reinforce the mechanical strength of a coating type magnetic layer and to reinforce a magnetic layer even when the magnetic layer is made thin, and to sufficiently improve durability of an extremely thin magnetic layer of a magnetic disk for which very severe durability is required, and to prevent such problems of sucking and dropping of a powder in the punching process into a disk or production of defective products or dropout.
This disk is produced by forming a base layer of 0.1 to 3μm thickness containing a nonmagnetic powder of 0.1 to 3μm average particle size selected from powders of Al2O3, α-Fe2O3, CaCO3, MgO, Cr2O3, BaSO4, BaCO3, ZnO, Cu2O, CuO and TiO2 on a base body, and then forming a coating type magnetic layer 3 of ≤5μm thickness containing a magnetic powder and oleyloleate.
