PURPOSE: To obtain a ferromagnetic foamed body suitable for application of electromagnetic wave absorption material by a method wherein a surface of frame lattice of foamed plastic or foamed rubber with continuous foam structure is covered with a ferromagnetic powder layer.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic foamed body 1 is produced by a method wherein a surface of frame lattice 3 of foamed plastic or foamed rubber 2 with continuous foam structure is covered with a ferromagnetic powder layer forming a thin and uniform magnetic layer 4. With this constitution, the flexibility of the foamed material 2 is not deteriorated, the weight is very light, impedance matching with the space in the foamed body 1 is easy, the electromagnetic wave trapped inside the foamed body 1 bears large loss because it is subjected to repeated reflections by the frame lattice 3 of the foamed body 1 and, moreover,the top magnetic layer 4 can be formed uniformly with the quantity of adhering ferromagnetic powder being properly controlled so that a large magnetic loss can be achieved in a wide frequency range.
