PURPOSE: To save power by allowing flux from an energization coil to pass magnetic poles at the top, sides, and the bottom following the shortest paths, raising the orientation density of magnetic grinding substance with the flux density increased, and by accomplishing uniform and high-precision grinding of the overall outside surface of each work with the magnetic grinding substance concentrated on appropriate portions.
CONSTITUTION: An upper magnetic pole 72 and a side magnetic pole 72 facing the work W are arranged on the rotational center side of a barrel 31, and these magnetic poles are installed in the position approaching an energization coil 41. The flux generated by this energization coil 41 passes the upper magnetic pole 74, side magnetic pole 72 and bottom magnetic pole 71 following the shortest paths. This raises the flux density in the portions facing these magnetic poles, where magnetic brushes due to magnetic grinding substance with high density orientation can be formed. Thus the whole outside surface of the work W can be ground uniformly and precisely, which together with the shortest path of magnetic circuits, leads to saving the power consumption in the energization coil 41.
