PURPOSE: To improve the dispersibility of a magnetic powder into a binder resin and to obtain an excellent magnetic recording medium by immersing the magnetic powder into a glycidyl type epoxy compd.-contg. liquid then mixing amine with the liquid to form the film consisting of the resultant product of reaction on the surface of the magnetic powder and using such powder.
CONSTITUTION: The magnetic powder such as magnetic metallic oxide or magnetic metal is immersed in an org solvent contg. a glycidyl type epoxy compd. to bond chemically the epoxy compd. to the magnetic powder. The amine, more preferably modified arom. amine or modified aliphat. amine, for example, 'SK-360 or SK-900FC(R)' produced by Daito Sangyo is added to the immersing liquid to bring the same into reaction with the epoxy compd. bonded to the magnetic powder. The film coating the entire surface of the magnetic powder is thus formed. The magnetic layer is formed by using the magnetic paint dispersed with the coated magnetic powder into the binder resin soln. The magnetic recording medium which has good dispersibility of the magnetic powder, obviates powder dislodgment and has excellent durability, etc. is thus obtd.
