Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve durability by providing a monomolecular film of a chin compd. consisting of a fluorine atom, oxygen atom and carbon atom and contg. specific groups in the molecule or the metal salt of said chain compd. on a magnetic layer.

CONSTITUTION: The monomolecular film 11 of the chain compd. consisting of the fluorine atom, oxygen atom and carbon atom and contg. -CF2-O-CF2- or -CF2-O-CF(CH3)- group in the molecule or the metal salt of said chain compd. is formed on the magnetic layer 10. The formation of the monomolecular film on the magnetic layer is executed by a Langmuir-Blodgett's technique (BL technique). The chain compd. to be used for forming the monomolecular is compds. such as; for example, HO-CH2-CF2-O-(C2F4O)s-(CF2O)t-CF2-CH2-OH, etc., having 2,000 average mol. wt. (In the formula, s is 1W20, t is 1W30). The thickness of the monomolecular film to be laminated on the magnetic layer is generally specified to a 20W1,000 range. The recording medium having the remarkably high durability is thereby obtd.
