Abstract:
To provide a magnetic recording medium comprising a spinel iron oxide thin film composed essentially of maghemite having excellent recording resolution while high coercive force and a high coercive force squareness ratio are maintained.
In the magnetic recording medium in which a long polymer film substrate or a polymer flexible substrate is formed, an underlayer having <10 nm film thickness is formed on the substrate, and a magnetic layer which comprises the spinel iron oxide thin film composed essentially of maghemite is formed on the under layer, the magnetic recording layer has ≥159 kA/m (2,000 Oe) coercive force.
