PURPOSE: To reproduce a video signal and a digital signal separately by recording the recording head of the video signal and the digital signal modulated by a head having a different azimuth angle on a remaining layer section of a video signal recording layer on a video signal recording track.

CONSTITUTION: To a terminal 5, the video signal is given, through a recording side image processing circuit 6 amplified with a recording amplifier 7, passing through rotating heads 3, 4 and recorded in a magnetic tape. A sound signal having no synchronizing signal given to a terminal 9 is subjected to a PCM in a code modulator 10 and limited only to a required area by a low pass filter (LPF)11, and recorded in the magnetic tape while passing through rotating heads 1, 2. An image signal recorded in the magnetic tape and a digital sound signal are reproduced by exclusive heads respectively having the different azimuth angle. The sound signal is recorded on a surface layer as a magnetic layer, and since an electric current for erasing and recording is set suitably, there is scarcely an influence to the image signal.
