Title:
MAGNETO-OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0729230
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To perform satisfactory recording without restriction by the high saturation magnetization and high Curie temp. of an artificial lattice film by forming a recording layer with a 1st alloy and a 2nd alloy whose Curie temp. is higher than that of the 1st alloy by at least 20°C.

CONSTITUTION: A recording layer is formed with a 1st alloy 4 and a 2nd alloy 5 whose Curie temp. is higher than that of the 1st alloy 4 by at least 20°C. A recording bit of the 2nd alloy layer 5 formed at the time of recording or erasing after irradiation with laser light is transferred to an artificial lattice film 3 by the restoration of the magnetization of the 1st, alloy layer 4. As a result, satisfactory recording can be performed without restriction by the high saturation magnetization and high Curie temp. of the artificial lattice film 3. The 1st alloy layer 4 as an amorphous rare earth metal-transition metal alloy layer brought into contact with the film 3 is based on TbFeCo and contains Si, Al, Cr, Nb, etc. Another amorphous rare earth metal-transition metal alloy layer is the 2nd alloy layer 5 based on TbFeCo.
