Abstract:
1. Process for the preparation of 3-phenoxy-benzyl alcohols from 3-phenoxy-benzyl chlorides characterised in that 3-phenoxy-benzyl chlorides of the formula see diagramm : EP0012214,P6,F1 wherein R**1 and R**2 are identical or different and represent hydrogen or halogen, are hydrolysed under pressure in a temperature range from 140 to 210 degrees C.
