To eliminate a casting defect so as to improve productivity by extrusion-molding cast aluminium-base compound material with ceramics as reinforcing material to form a cylindrical member, and cutting this cylindrical member to obtain a disc.
Aluminium-base compound material 10 with ceramics as reinforcing material is manufactured by casting, and the surface of the aluminium-base compound material 10 is eliminated by machining to form a cylindrical solid billet. This aluminium-base compound material 10 is extrusion-molded by an extruder to obtain a cylindrical body 12. A hollow die, for instance, is used for extrusion molding, and the aluminium-base compound material 10 is extruded being divided in a plurality of pieces, and at the same time, pressure-bonded and integrated. The extrusion-molded cylindrical body 12 is radially cut by a cutting jig 13 to obtain a disc part 14 of a disc brake. In this way, a casting defect is not left, and since a product is formed by extrusion molding, preforming in special shape is dispensed with.
