PURPOSE: To obtain efficiently and at low cost the carbon electrode rod having the coarse surface with a number of uneven parts by forming uneven parts on the surface of the molded body extruded into rod form by passing the molded body through the gap of a plurality of fluted blades which are turnable and possess a number of uneven parts on the circumferential surface, in manufacture of the carbon electrode rod, e.g. the positive electrode collector rod for dry cell in which the kneaded substance of carbon powder and coking agent is extruded into rod form, molded, and then baked.
CONSTITUTION: The rod-shaped molded body 2 extruded from the nozzle 1 of a molding machine is fed forward by the extrusion pressure of the molded body its elf, and contacts the circumferential surface of fluted blades 6 and revolves the fluted blade 6, during the time when passing through the gap enclosed by the circumferential surfaces of four fluted blades 6, and then the uneveness corresponding to the uneveness of the fluted blade 6 is formed on the surface of the molded body. As the uneveness is formed by pressing the circumferential surfaces of a plurality of fluted blades which are rotatable in continuation to the molding process, coarse surface can be formed efficiently and at low cost.
