Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a clad ingot excellent in interfacial adhesive-strength by casting a molten base-metal in a mold, after setting a ply metal by slanting it while facing its surface, coated with a scum-repulsive agent, upward, in manufacturing a clad ingot cast in one body.

CONSTITUTION: A ply metal 2 coated with a scum-repulsive agent on its surface, is set in a mold 3, by slanting it at a slant of 10W300mm/m with respect to the vertical plane so as to face the coated surface 1 upward. Further, an ultrasonic vibrator 7 driven by an electric source 9 is attached to a hole 8, provided to the upper part of ply metal 2. The ply metal 2 is vibrated by the vibrator 7 while pouring a molten base-metal from a bottom charging port 5 of mold 3 into the mold 3. Gas bubbles generated from the surface coated with the scum-repulsive agent 1 are separated from the surface of ply metal 2, to prevent the generation of a poor adhesion due to blow holes, etc. generating in the interface of the metals 6 and 2.
