PURPOSE: To obtain a decoration retaining its appearance and color tone similar to those of a sintered hard alloy and having superior wear resistance, hardness and corrosion resistance, by forming thin Cr plating on a Cu alloy material worked to the required surface and shape before carrying out ionic plating.

CONSTITUTION: A Cu alloy material such as brass is worked to a shape necessary for a decoration, and the required faces of the worked product are made specular. Cr plating of about 5μm thickness is then formed while retaining the edge between the specular faces, and the Cr plating is plated with Ti or a Ti alloy. Thus, a decoration which resembles a sintered hard alloy in appearance and has superior wear resistance, hardness, etc. is obtd.
