PURPOSE: To prevent the occurrence of a crack for obtaining desired strength by, in the case of manufacturing an automobile frame member having a closed section structure with a flange, making the curve radius of a root angular part of the flange part of a press-formed frame material to be smaller than the curve radius of an inside angular part of the closed section.
CONSTITUTION: A frame material 1 has a rectangular closed section structure enclosed by side walls 2 to 5, and is an aluminum alloy extrusion material having a flange part 6 extendingly provided on an one side wall 2, and the root angular part of the flange part 6 is formed to have about a right angle. In this case, the radius of curvature of the inside angular part of a closed section structure is formed to be larger than the radius of curvature of the root angular part of the flange part 6. An another opposite side wall having not the flange part 6 is restricted by a restricting member provided with a recessed groove, and a slide die insertedly attached inside the closed section cooperates with a slide punch to press the closed section from its outside to form a recess bead (a) on one of opposite walls containing the flange part 6 and a projection bead (b) along the recessed groove on the other opposite side wall.
