Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce K content in liquid Na or Na compounds by bringing it into contact with Na in-conductive beta-alumina.
CONSTITUTION: Na or a Na compound I as raw material is heated by the heating source 2 while moving toward the lower part to a fluid of a less than 900°C which is in turn made to contact with the beta-alumina 3. Whereupon, Na ion and K ion are exchanged with each other and passed continuously through the separation plate 4 (Ni mesh) for collection in the receiver 5, where high purity Na or Na compound 6 whose K content is reduced to less than 0.2% is obtained.
