Title:
MANUFACTURE OF HIGHLY REDUCED PELLET
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59200732
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture inexpensively highly reduced pellets by blending chrome ore with a carbonaceous reducing agent and a binder, molding the blend into pellets, heating the pellets under atmospheric pressure to form reduced pellets whose surfaces are rich in an oxide phase, and projecting a grinding material to remove the oxide phase.

CONSTITUTION: Chrome ore is blended with a carbonaceous reducing agent and a binder, and the blend is molded into pellets. The pellets are heated to 1,200W 1,500°C under atmospheric pressure to form reduced pellets whose surfaces are rich in an oxide phase. A grinding material is projected on the surface of the reduced pellets by centrifugal projection, blasting or other method to remove the oxide-rich surface layers. Alumina, silicon carbide, hardened steel or the like is used as the grinding material.
