PURPOSE: To enable the prevention and restraint of the generation of scale and to improve productivity by keeping an area between rolling mills of a hot finishing mill in inert gas atmosphere and rolling a steel sheet after removing scale on the surface of the steel sheet at least in the vicinity of the inlet side of the final finishing mill.
CONSTITUTION: Descaling for the hot rolled steel strip 1 is executed to a degree that the fresh surface of the steel strip 1 appears using a descaling device 9 which consists of a wire brush in the vicinity of the inlet side of a single rolling mill or plural rolling mills containing at least the final rolling mill of the finishing mill 2, i.e., on the inlet side of the final rolling mill 2c of the finishing mill 2. At this time, a box 10 with which the area from the inlet side of the final finishing mill 2 to a coiler 4 is sealed by inert gas is provided and the steel strip is coiled with the coiler 4 through a pinch roll 6 after the steel strip 1 is cooled by spraying water with a cooling device 5 above table rollers 3. Further, gas seal with the box 10 is enough to provide for at least only the area of the finishing mill 2.
