PURPOSE: To manufacture in a short time a hydrogen occluding electrode having a high filling ratio of hydrogen occluding alloy and high mechanical strength by casting a hydrogen occluding alloy to which a predetermined compound is added, and immersing the alloy in a required solvent so as to extract the compound.

CONSTITUTION: A compound which is unsoluble but soluble to a solvent is added to a molten metal of hydrogen occluding alloy to cast a hydrogen occluding alloy. The casted alloy is immersed in a soluble solvent and then the compound is extracted whereby a hydrogen occluding alloy having a high filling ratio of hydrogen occluding alloy and high mechanical strength is manufactured in a short time.
