To form a coating uniformly through a simple and low cost process while sustaining the small diameter of nozzle by eliminating the drawbacks incident to formation of an oil repellent film after boring of nozzle.
When a nozzle plate 3 is manufactured, a synthetic resin film 31 is coated, on one side thereof, with a water repellent or oil repellent film 32 and then a nozzle 33 is formed by making a tapered hole from uncoated surface toward a coated surface by three stage irradiation of laser. The film 32 is composed of a metal oxide based ceramic, e.g. indium/tin oxide, and exhibits water repellency and oil repellency. Since the nozzle is bored after formation of film, an accurate nozzle diameter can be ensured. The nozzle plate is bonded to the front face of channel board so that the ink channel communicates with the nozzle 33.
