Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture grinding/polishing cleaning material made of spinel fused slug high in viscosity and excellent in wear resistance, at a high yield by atomizing fused slug, produced as a by-product at the time of refining ferrochrome, with supersonic gas of specified speed so as to be formed into granular material of specific grain diameter.
SOLUTION: A slug gutter 1 for making slug melt flow down is provided, and an atomizing nozzle is disposed directly thereunder facing the falling flow of slug melt. A collecting dome is installed in front of the atomizing nozzle. The atomizing nozzle used in this case is formed by combining a Laval type main nozzle 29 of Laval structure with Laval type side nozzles 2b, 2c of Laval structure disposed symmetrically on both sides. At the time of operation, fused slug produced as a by-product at the time of refining ferrochrome is atomized with supersonic gas of Mach 1 or more so as to be obtained as granular material of 0.2-2.5mm in average grain diameter.
