Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately position a noble metal in an outside electrode by pushing each outside electrode base material to a bending die molding surface, which corresponds to the bending shape of the outside metal, for plastic deformation, and welding one end surface of the noble metal to a front end surface of the outside electrode base material, and punching a central part of the noble metal and a tip of each outside electrode base material.
SOLUTION: An outside electrode base material is pushed to a molding surface of a bending die through a communication hole of a main body metal 1 so as to be plastically deformed, and bent to a nearly-L shape, and a tip of the outside electrode base material is blanked by a pressing machine. Continuously, an end surface 404 of the noble metal is welded for connection to a front end surface of the outside electrodes 4, 4 so as to stride over a clearance formed by blanking. The outside electrodes 4, 4 of the main body metal 1 are inserted into a guide so as to contact with an end surface of a blanking die, and a central part of a noble metal chip is punched by a punching part. A central electrode 3 is fixed by fitting an insulator 2 in the through hole by glass seal so as to form a spark plug A.
