PURPOSE: To obtain a multicolored ornament excellent in wear resistance by forming a titanium-nitride layer on an ornament composed of titanium material by a gas nitriding method, providing a heat-resisting organic mask onto a park of the above layer, and then forming a colored film of a different hue on the above.
CONSTITUTION: A titanium-nitride layer 2 of a gold color, etc., is formed by a gas nitriding method on the surface of a material 1 to be treated composed of titanium (alloy). A masking layer 3 is formed on a part of the above titanium-nitride layer 2 by using a heat-resisting organic masking material of epoxy resin series, etc. Subsequently, a colored film 4, such as color ion plating film and color sputtering film, presenting a color dissimilar to that of the above titanium-nitride layer 2 is formed. Then, the masking layer is peeled off. By this method, various colors can be allowed to appear arbitrarily on the material 1 to be treated, and a high-quality ornament can be obtained.
