Title:
MANUFACTURE OF MULTIPLAYER SOLID GOLF BALL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3278124
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a multilayer solid golf ball, having a core and a cover to cover the core, with improved resilience and tightness between the core and the cover, by modifying the properties of the surface of the core by irradiating electron beam before covering the core with the cover.
CONSTITUTION: This solid golf ball has a double layer structure comprising a solid core 1 and a cover 2 and dimples 2a on the surface of the cover 2. The hardness of the surface of this ball is increased by raising the cross-linking density of the surface part of the core 1 by irradiating electron beam on the surface of the core 1 before covering the cover 2 in the manufacture. That is, the resilience of the ball is improved by reducing the energy loss generated between the core and the cover by reducing a gap generated between the both by reducing the difference of deformation between the both at hitting. The tightness between the core 1 and the cover 2 is improved by strengthening the chemical bond between the both.
