PURPOSE: To increase the adhesion of an electrode material with a current collector material by using polyvinyl alcohol resin having a saponification degree of 0∼85molar% as a binder.

CONSTITUTION: Polyvinyl alcohol resin (PVA) having a saponification degree of 0∼85molar% is used as a binder. This PVA resin is obtained by polymerizing vinyl ester monomers, copolymerizing the monomers with other monomers, or saponifying these polymers. Cadmium oxide or nickel compound acting as an electrode material is dispersed in a solvent containing this PVA, and this dispersion is applied to a current collector. The adhesion of the electrode material with the current collector material is remarkably increased and problems in a production process and in the performance of a battery are substantially solved.
