PURPOSE: To achieve easier folding with a ready return to the original form by a method wherein an umbrella product is made by using a coated polyester textile as fabric and then, is treated thermally as being folded at a specified temperature to impart folds pleated.

CONSTITUTION: An umbrella product is made in advance by using a polyester textile as fabric 1 and then, treated thermally being folded at a 120-160°C to impart folds 22 pleated. The treating time is preferably 30sec to 2min. It is desired that the polyester textile is made of a thermoplastic fiber and contains polyester at a rate of 50% or more. A coating agent is preferably an acrylic resin because of limited pollution by sublimation of disperse dye along with appropriate hardness and adequate pleat orientation.
