PURPOSE: To roll a polymer material at a high yield with inexpensive facilities by a method wherein the first pass in rolling is performed under without tension and rolling under tension is performed after intermediate pass or at the final pass.
CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of rolled polymer material sheet by multi- pass and reverse rolling, the first pass in rolling is performed under no tension and rolling under tension is performed after intermediate pass or at the final pass. By utilizing the application of tension as necessary minimum as possible, the rolling at a high yield can be possible even by the process such as a tension reel system, the cost of equipment of which is low. Though the application of tension in normal rolling makes stable rolling or rolling, the product by which has favorable flat shape with no warpage, possible, said rolling state most strongly relate to the sheet thickness. When the sheet thickness is comparatively large, the rolling can be performed without trouble even under no application of tension in the comparatively favorable shape. By applying tension with tension reel as a tension application device under the condition that the sheet thickness becomes small, the fully satisfactory shape of sheet is finally obtained.
