PURPOSE: To provide the silver halide emulsion superior in fog stability and secular stability under high temperature and high humidity and the photographic sensitive material having such performances.

CONSTITUTION: The silver halide emulsion is prepared by forming silver halide grains in the presence of a gelatin containing adenine in an amount of ≤0.2ppm, adding a photographic spectral sensitizing dye substantially insoluble in water in the course between chemical ripening and coating without using any organic solvent in a solid state, and adding fine silver iodide grains. The silver halide photographic sensitive material has at least one silver halide emulsion layer containing the emulsion formed by the above-mentioned process.
