PURPOSE: To reduce discharge voltage in plus polarity, and reduce ignitability and electrode consumption by jointing a small diameter straight bar part of a clad member and a noble metal member together, and molding an earth electrode member in an L shape.
CONSTITUTION: A clad member 16 containing a cylindrical nickel alloy member or heat conductive metal is cut in a prescribed dimension, and a straight bar part 17 having a diameter smaller than a barrel part 18 of the member 16 and a connecting cone part 19 are formed in one end part. After the tip surface 20 of the straight bar part 17 is placed so as to be covered with a cylindrical noble metal member 21, while push-pressing the member 21 in the shaft lengthwise direction of the member 16, a melting and coagulating alloy part 23 is formed over the whole circumference of a surface 22 by radiating a laser beam while rotating the member 16 from the horizontal direction of the surface 22. Next, the barrel part 18 is pressed, and is formed as a straight angle shape earth electrode member, and one end surface which is not jointed to noble metal of this member and a subject metal fitting 9 are joined together, and an earth electrode member is molded in an L shape so as to have a side surface part 8 of an electrode 3 and a spark discharge gap part 14.
