PURPOSE: To produce an excellent vertically magnetized film on the surface of a base material by providing an evaporation surface of the upstream side to an evaporation source over the opening edge of the upstream side of a traveling base material of an opening part for vertical vapor deposition.
CONSTITUTION: The length Lo of an evaporation source 2 set in the traveling direction of a base material is larger than the length L of an opening part 4. The source 2 evaporates an electron beam B vertically at a position near an opening edge 4a at an upstream side as shown by an arrow head in case the beam B is swept on an evaporation surface 2a at the upstream side. At the same time, the beams B are evaporated obliquely and opposite to each other at both ends of the surface 2a with junction to the vertical evaporation near the surface of the base material. Thus the oblique incident vapor deposition in either one direction is never occurs, and the most beams are virtually vapor deposited vertically. In this example, the oblique vapor deposition is prevented also on an evaporation surface 2b at the downstream side.
