Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aqueous resin dispersion which forms a coating film excellent in hot-water whitening resistance and weather resistance, and can coat a thick film.SOLUTION: A method for producing an aqueous resin dispersion containing a plurality of layers of emulsion particles includes: performing emulsion polymerization of 45-85 mass% of a monomer component with respect to the total monomer components used in the emulsion polymerization in a medium having a pH of 1-5 using a monomer component with a content of an acid group-containing monomer of 0.3 mass% or less as a monomer component used in a raw material of the emulsion particles; and then adjusting a pH of the residual monomer components after having been subjected to the emulsion polymerization to 6-10.SELECTED DRAWING: None
