To provide a manufacturing method of a battery which can firmly join a side edge of an electrode plate group and current collectors.
In manufacturing the battery in which, a number of positive electrode plates 18 and negative electrode plates 19 are laminated with separators in between and a side edge of the electrode plate group is welded to the current collectors 21, 22, the collectors 21, 22 attached with a plurality of lines of brazing filler metal along the laminated direction of the group of the electrode plates 18, 19 in line are made pressure welded to one side edge of the group of the electrode plates 18, 19, and heat is radiated on a face contrary to the pressure-welded face of the collectors 21, 22 with the group of the electrode plates 18, 19 along the attached lines of the brazing filler metal 30, whereby, the group of the electrode plates 18, 19 are welded in a high speed to the collectors 21, 22 without having adverse effect of the heat on other parts to manufacture the electrode plate group.
