Abstract:

To provide a method for manufacturing a cylinder liner in an easy and reliable manner, and in a short time period, in which on a combustion-chamber constituting part, retained lubricating oil never flows out to the outside and thermal conductivity is high, whereas thermal conductivity is low on a crankcase side.

A method for manufacturing a cylinder liner 1' of an internal combustion engine in which an embedded material is impregnated into the combustion chamber constituting part 1b outside a molded body 1 made up of sintered body includes the steps of heating the combustion chamber constituting part 1b outside the molded body 1, setting the molded body 1 placing the combustion chamber component 1b at a lower position in the vessel 10, and forming a bath tank 11 between an inner surface of the vessel 10 and an outer surface of the molded body 1, forming a hermetically sealed chamber 12 on an inner side of molded body 1 set within the vessel 10, introducing an embedded material 3 into the bath tank 11, and after that, depressurizing the chamber 12 while detecting pressure within the chamber 12, and stopping depressurization of the chamber 12, when the pressure within the chamber 12 is decreased down to a predetermined value.
