To provide a manufacturing method of a soluble polyimide exhibiting high processability and high stability.
An acid dianhydride and a diamine are heated in the presence of γ-caprolactone as an acid catalyst in an organic polar solvent to give a polyimide having an average molecular weight of 10,000-300,000.
