Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable a generator to be arranged compactly in an engine room by placing the generator backward from a contrarotating device, in a marine contrarotating propeller device. CONSTITUTION:An inner shaft 5 is connected to the rotary shaft 1a of a main engine 1, and an outer shaft 6 is laid concentrically with the inner shaft 5. Propellers 10, 11 are mounted on the back ends of said inner shaft 5 and said outer shaft 6. Pinions 7d, 7e constituting first and second gear mechanisms are connected to each other through a flexible shaft 7f. Said flexible shaft 7f is driven by the main engine 1 through the first gear mechanism 7A, and transmits driving force to the outer shaft 6 through the second gear mechanism 7B. A generator 9 is coupled to the back end of the flexible shaft through a step-up gear 8.
