To obtain a material for bearings having a thermal expansion coefficient equal to that of a metal to improve a matching property to the metal, improving a noise characteristic and precision processability, preventing a phase transfer caused by rolling wear and reducing the wearing, and to provide a method for inexpensively manufacturing the material for bearings.
The material for bearings is composed essentially of 70-99.95 vol.% zirconium oxide including MgO, or MgO as an indispensable component adding at least one kind of metal oxide selected from oxides of Ca, Ti and rare earth metals as a stabilizer, 0.05-30 vol.% at least one kind of compounds selected from SiC, TiC, MoC, WC, ZrC, HfC, Al2O3, MgAl204, ZnO and Nip, and ≤3 vol.% other impurities.
