Abstract:

To provide a material and method for efficiently and inexpensively reducing odors of waste water containing various kinds of residues and organic matters including, as for a grease-trapper used for organic waste water treatment.

The material comprises mixed and kneaded powder of denucleated Torula yeast, which is a harmless and nontoxic natural material having biodegradability in a range from 85 to 99%, and of synthetic mica containing impurities to a lesser extent and having stable quality in a range from 15 to 1%. The average grain size of the mixed powder is 1 to 150 microns, and the mixed powder is used in conditions of a pH ranging from 5 to 9 and a temperature from 5 to 30°C. The reducing material occupies 0.5 to 15% of inner volume a waste water vessel and reduces organic water odors.
