PURPOSE: To obtain material to be recorded for copying machine wherein a porous alumina hydrate layer carrying thermosoftening resin and antistatic agent is formed on a base material, thereby providing excellent toner attraction property, proper surface electric resistivity, friction coefficient, and oil absorptivity.

CONSTITUTION: Binder is added to alumina hydrate so as to make slurry. A base material is coated with the slurry by using a roll coater and dried, so that an alumina hydrate layer is formed. For the alumina hydrate, it is preferable to use pseudoboehmite in order to improve surface electric resistivity in proper range, adhesive strength of toner, and absorptivity of oil. Thermosoftening resin such as styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer is to be carried in order to improve wettability of the toner and obtain uniform images. As the surface resistivity increases because of the thermosoftening resin, antistatic agent such as polyoxyethylenealkyl ether is to be further mixed so as to give conductivity.
