PURPOSE: To calculate the extent of approach of grindstone to the work, the times of grinding, etc. quantitatively and automatically by moving a sensor from a retreat position to a measuring position with a control device, measuring the gaps from the work successively and processing the measuring data thereof.
CONSTITUTION: According to the command from a control device 12 of a grinder, a controller 14 rotates a sensor around a rotating shaft 13b, and sets the same in a measuring position 13a from a retreat position 13a'. The sensor 13a measures the gap from the work 15 on a moving table and the data thereof is stored successively in the storage circuit of the controller 14; thereafter, the data is arithmetically processed, and the rate of approach of grindstone 11 to the work 15a, times of grinding, etc. are calculated quantitatively and quickly.
