Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decomposing method for PCB which eliminates the difficulty in measuring the degree of progress of decomposing reaction by a conventional PCB decomposing device, takes a certain amount of reaction solution during the progress of the decomposing reaction, and continuously measure the degree of progress of PCB decomposition in real time.
SOLUTION: By this measuring method, liquid containing polychlorobiphenyl is irradiated with exciting light of 400 to 450nm exciting the polychlorobiphenyl or exciting light of 300 to 400nm exciting decomposed products of the polychlorobiphenyl in the decomposing process to measure light emission intensity of 450 to 600nm and on the basis of the obtained measured values or the ratio of the both, the amount of polychlorobiphenyl left in the liquid is quantified. Further, the decomposing device is equipped with a device which quantifies the polychlorobiphenyl by the said measuring method.
