Title:
MEASURING METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ALUMINA CONCENTRATION IN ALUMINIUM ELECTROLYTIC BATH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS57173741
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To measure alumina concentration without being affected by isolating carbon, by a method wherein an electrolytic bath sample is solidified by cooling, and suspension, in which the work is dissolved in an aluminium chloride water solution, is exposed to a monochromatic light source to measure an optical property.

CONSTITUTION: A molten electrolytic bath is collected and is solidified by a natural cooling, or rapid cooling. The solidified substance, crushed to 100 mesh or less, is dissolved in an aluminium chloride solution, and is dilluted in given water to be brought to a constant volume. The suspension is implanted into an optical cell 3, and is irradiated with monochromatic light of a wavelength ranging 400W800nm. A strength of scattered light, radiated from a sample resulting from irradiation of monochromatic light, is detected by a light-electricity converting element 5, or a strength of transmitting light, passing through the optical cell 3, wherein the sample is placed, is detected by a light-electricity converting element.
