PURPOSE: To provide a cartridge opening/closing mechanism which operates the shutter of a cartridge in the first half of the loading operation of the cartridge without preventing the miniaturization of a device concerning with the cartridge opening/closing mechanism which opens/closes the shutter of the cartridge of an information recording and reproducing medium provided on an information recording and reproducing device which reads and writes the data for the information recording and reproducing medium rotatively provided in the cartridge.
CONSTITUTION: The mechanism is constituted so that an opening/closing pin 61 is driven to the center part of a cartridge holder 51 in the first half of the loading of the cartridge on the cartridge holder and the shutter of the cartridge is in a state of full closing.
