Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly detect media regardless of individual difference of an optical sensor, a mechanical assembly error, the soil of a light emitting part and light receiving part of the optical sensor, and the like, and correctly detect media in a short time even in the still unprepared state of media.
SOLUTION: During the absence of media or in an absent place of media, a relative reference signal of a differential amplifier 10 is made zero to obtain output of an optical sensor 11, and the output of the optical sensor 11 at this time is applied to a previously obtained expression to obtain a relative reference signal to be supplied to the differential amplifier 10 next. At the time of actual media detecting action, this relative reference signal is supplied to the differential amplifier 10, and its output is compared with the specified threshold value to judge the presence of media.
