Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a melting device capable of producing infrared ray transmitting glass free from cracks.
CONSTITUTION: A melting device of infrared ray transmitting glass, equipped with a melt part 2 maintained at a melt temperature and an annealing part 3 maintained at an annealing temperature, connected to the melt part 2 wherein an ampule 1 having sealed glass can be transferred from the melt part 2 to the annealing part 3 without being brought into contact with air at the outside of a furnace after completion of melting of glass. Infrared ray transmitting glass free from cracks can be safely produced by the melting device of this constitution.
