Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a metal chelate compd. high in solubility in an org. solvent, capable of coating by application, good in sensitivity, excellent in light resistance and storage stability, and hence suitable for use in an optical recording medium by composing the same of a specific azo compd. and a metal.
CONSTITUTION: The objective azo-metal chelate compd. is composed of an azo compd. of formula I [A is a residue bonded to the C atom to form a heterocycle together with the C atom and the N atom; X is a residue bonded to two C atoms to form an arom. group together with the two C atoms; R1 is (substd.)alkyl, (substd.)aryl, (substd.)alkenyl, or (substd.)cycloalkyl; Y is H or a cation; and (n) is 1 to 3] (e.g. a compd. of formula II) and a metal. The chelate compd. is high in solubility in an org. solvent, capable of coating by application, good in sensitivity, excellent in light resistance and storage stability, and hence suitable for use in an optical recording medium.
