Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a stable blue color and lengthen life by sealing a noble gas fro starting, mercury, xmg of InI, and ymg of CsI in a luminescent tube having electrodes at both ends and an inner volume of Vcm3 and specifying V and (x), (x) and (y) in a specified formula.
CONSTITUTION: A luminescent tube 1 made of quartz glass, having an inner volume of Vcm3, and having electrodes 2, 3 sealed at its both ends, is sealed within a quartz glass outer tube 4 to airtightly holds. A noble gas for starting, mercury, an xmg of InI, and ymg of CsI are sealed within the luminescent tube 1 so that the relation of V and (x) becomes 0.165×V0.526 ≤ 0.523×V0.526, and so that the relation of (x) and (y) becomes 1 ≤ y/x ≤ 5 in weight ratio. For example, 18mg of mercury, 0.5mg of InI, 25 Torr of argon gas for starting, and 1.0mg of CsI are sealed in the luminescent tube having an inner diameter of 10mm and an inner volume of about 4cm3. An arc is stabilized and a lamp having stable blue color from the initial stage of lighting and long life can be manufactured.
