Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic ion trapping agent which has an excellent trapping ratio of cadmium and lead and exhibits a sufficient trapping effect on a number of metal species and, in addition, is water soluble and biodegradable, and a method for cleaning soil by using the same.
SOLUTION: A metallic ion trapping agent comprises a saponin having ten sugar groups and one carboxylic group to be obtained from the bark of Quillaja and/or a saponin having four sugar groups and one carboxyl group to be obtained from tea seeds. This metallic ion trapping agent is connected to a method for cleaning a soil contaminated with heavy metals to allow the heavy metals present in the soil to migrate into its aqueous solution.
