Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve visibility of a meter even when a driver's sight line position is separated from a meter display position by judging a driver's sight line during traveling of a vehicle and altering a display mode of the meter in response to the judgment.
CONSTITUTION: A sight line analyzer 13 is transferred to a right and left sight angle estimation when an estimated downward sight angle falls within 10-30 degrees by a signal of an eye ball existent position visually specifying circuit. When the angle falls, for example, within ±10 degrees (±10-±15 degrees), a speedometer, a tachometer are decided as a central vision (peripheral vision) mode, and a fuel gage, a water temperature gage are decided as a peripheral vision (central vision) mode. When the angle does not fall within ±15 degrees, a meter 15 is decided as the peripheral vision mode, and the analyzer 13 sends the decision of these sight line positions to a controller 17. The controller 17 controls an actuator 26, does not move a movable unit 25 when the meter 15 has the central vision mode, and moves it toward a pointer 1 when it has the peripheral vision mode. Thus, the pointer 1 is so rotated that its section is laid to increase a sectional width, thereby remarkably improving visibility.
