Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the aligning method for the optical waveguide circuit and input/output optical fiber which can easily and simply match the relative positions of the input/output optical fiber and optical waveguide circuit with optimum positions.
SOLUTION: By this aligning method for obtaining an optimum optical connection between the optical waveugide circuit 10 formed on a plane substrate and an input optical fiber 21 or output optical fiber 24, light for alignment is made incident on the input and output optical fibers 21 and 24, leak light generated in the optical waveguide circuit 10 except at the connection part between the light guide circuit 10 and input and output optical fibers 21 and 24 is measured, and the relative positions of the optical waveguide circuit 10 and input and output optical fibers 21 and 24 are so controlled that the intensity becomes maximum.
