PURPOSE: To improve operability, by attaching a single or twisted thread made up of a plurality of crimped or uncrimped thermoplastic fibers on one side of thermoplastic resin film in a predetermined width and flat form by an ultrasonic or high frequency sealing method.
CONSTITUTION: The opening thread 30 formed by an ultrasonic sealer 10 to 180 deniers in total is continuously attached to one side of film strapping 2b (inside of the film after packing) at an attaching speed of 40m/min., an ultrasonic frequency of 27,000 hertz and a pressure of 2kg/cm2 in this embodiment and the opening thread 30 after attachment thereto is flattened into a tape- shaped opening thread 4. Behind the ultrasonic sealer, a sensor 20 (photosensor using optical fiber) is provided for detecting the breakage of the tape-shaped opening thread. The film strapping 2b with the tape-shaped opening thread 4 is placed in an online packing operation through a guide roll and normally fed into an automatic wrapping machine for use in the packing of cigarettes, a carton containing chocolates, etc.
