To clean a form-damping roller while suppressing applied external force without applying a restriction to the arranging position of each part in a printing apparatus.
First, a washing fabric impregnated with a cleaning liquid is pressed to a blanket cylinder by a blanket cylinder cleaning device to apply the cleaning liquid to the outer peripheral surface of the blanket cylinder while wiping off the ink on the blanket cylinder (S12, S14). Next, a plate cylinder on which a used printing plate is mounted and the blanket cylinder are brought to a mutual contact state to transfer the cleaning liquid to the printing plate (S16, S18). Thereafter, the form damping roller is brought into contact with the printing plate on the plate cylinder to be continuously rotated in this state and the ink on the form-damping roller is melted by the cleaning liquid to be transferred to the printing plate (S20, S22). The form-damping roller is further rotated in this state, and the ink transferred to the printing plate is transferred to the blanket cylinder (S24). The ink on the blanket cylinder is peeled and cleaned by the blanket cylinder cleaning device (S26).
